Percussion Ensemble
Participation in the SJSU Percussion Ensemble is required for all percussion majors. This class meets weekly and performs a variety of the best literature for percussion ensemble. The SJSU Percussion Ensemble has also premiered many faculty compositions, including: Concerto for Organ with Percussion by Lou Harrison; Eklectikosby Brent Heisinger; and Salon Strikers and Sliders Last Orbit by Allen Strange. Other Percussion Ensemble activities include: Master Classes in orchestral repertoire, percussion accessory training, career planning, and guest artists.

Percussion Pedagogy
All percussion majors are encouraged to take two semesters of Percussion Pedagogy, a project class that covers: Percussion composition; conducting; preparing a clinic; orchestral repertoire; designing a percussion methods class; writing a percussion article for publication; and other research projects.
