Qualifications:

Professional performing and choreography experience with a modern dance company or companies. At least three years of university teaching experience also required. MA, MFA required or professional equivalency. Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.

 

Responsibilities:

To teach all levels of contemporary dance technique and ballet, and from among the following: dance production, composition, improvisation and dance appreciation. To include direction of student concerts, choreography for advanced student company, student advising, and student recruitment. To serve on committees at the School, College and University levels and engage in effective grant/fundraising activities. Excellence in teaching and continued creativity and professional activity will be a requirement for retention, promotion and consideration of tenure.

Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.

 

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Starting Date: Fall 2009
