Collegium Musicum

The Collegium Musicum, under the direction of Gordon Haramaki, is a combined vocal and instrumental ensemble dedicated to exploring the music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and early Baroque through performance. The Collegium Musicum is open to all undergrad and grad students, as well as the larger SJSU community.  Participants have access to the instruments in the Vernon Reed Collection, including sackbuts, shawms, recorders, viols, cornetti, and four harpsichords.

Past performances have included scenes from Francesco Cavalli's La Calisto (Fall 2008), Parisian chansons (Spring 2008), scenes from Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (Fall 2007), and the Roman de Fauvel (Spring 2007). The Spring 2009 concert will feature 17th-century vocal and instrumental chamber music from Mantua and Venice.
